Alexei Anatoljewitsch Gromyko ( Russian Алексей Анатольевич Громыко ; born April 20, 1969 ) is a Russian historian . He is Director at the European Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IE RAS), RAS Professor (2015) and Chairman of the Coordination Council of RAS Professors (2016–2018), corresponding member of RAS (elected in October 2016).

Gromyko studied from 1986 at the Lomonossow University in Moscow . He graduated in history in 1997 with a dissertation on neoconservatism in Great Britain and completed his habilitation in 2005 on the modernization of the political party system in Great Britain. Gromyko studied at Ruskin College (Webb memorial Trust Scholarship) in 2002 and at St Antony's College (Senior Associate Membership and Senior Visitor) at the University of Oxford in 2004 and 2007 . He is a co-founder of the Russian movement “For the consolidation of the democratic international legal order and the support of the United Nations”.

Gromyko is a member of the "Task Force for Cooperation in Greater Europe"; this group draws on the funding and analytical work of the European Leadership Network (ELN) , the Russian Council for International Affairs (RIAC), the Polish Institute for International Affairs (PISM) and the Organization for International Strategic Research in Ankara (USAK).

Gromyko is the grandson of the former Soviet head of state and foreign minister Andrei Andrejewitsch Gromyko . His father was the diplomat Anatoly Andrejewitsch Gromyko (1932-2017), also a historian and member of the Russian Academy.
