Alexei Nikolayevich Leontjew

Aleksei N. Leontiev ( Russian Алексей Николаевич Леонтьев * February 5 . Jul / 18th February  1903 greg. In Moscow , † 21st January 1979 ) was a Soviet psychologist.

Together with Lev Vygotsky and Alexander Luria , he was one of the protagonists of the work context in Soviet psychology known as the cultural-historical school . His numerous experimental, theoretical and methodological contributions deal with questions of the psychology of memory, perception and thinking, the biological and cultural origin of the psychological, personality development and educational psychology. One of his most important achievements is the formulation of the general theory of activity , in which Leontjew analytically differentiates between activity (motive), action (goal) and operation (task).

In 1963 Alexei Leontiev received the Lenin Prize .

Leontiev's theory had a decisive influence on the development of Klaus Holzkamp's critical psychology in the Federal Republic of Germany .

His son was the philologist and psychologist Alexei Alexejewitsch Leontjew (1936-2004). His son Dmitri (* 1960) is also a psychologist.
