Alexei Wassiljewitsch Tyranow ( Russian Алексей Васильевич Тыранов , scientific transliteration Aleksej Vasil'evič Tyranov ; *  1801 in Beschezk ; † August 3, 1859 in Kashin ) was a Russian painter . He mainly painted portraits and genre paintings .

He started painting icons with his brother . Eventually he moved to St. Petersburg to study at the Russian Art Academy . There he took lessons from Alexei Wenezianow . From 1836 he was a student of Karl Brjullow .
