Alexej Gorlatch (* 1988 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a German pianist and music teacher. Alexej Gorlatch has been teaching piano at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts since 2016 . In 2011 Gorlatch was awarded first prize in the ARD International Music Competition in the piano category, where he also received the audience award and several special prizes.

life and work

Alexei Gorlatch was born in Kiev in 1988. He began his piano training at the age of seven with Eduard-Georg Georgiew at the music school in Passau. At the age of twelve he went to the Berlin University of the Arts as a young student and studied with Martin Hughes . He completed his studies at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Bernd Goetzke, where he graduated with the concert exam.

Gorlatch has won numerous piano competitions, including the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition 2006, the German Music Competition 2008 , the International Anton G. Rubinstein Competition 2009 and the Dublin International Piano Competition 2009; he also won the silver medal at the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition in 2009.

Alexej Gorlatch's intensive concert career has taken him to the most important concert stages in the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthaus Berlin and the Berlin Philharmonic , the Vienna Konzerthaus , the Salzburg Festival Hall and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. He has given concerts at numerous festivals, such as the Lucerne Festival, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Yokohama International Piano Festival, the Schwetzinger Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the MDR Music Summer, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and many others . Concert tours have taken him to Asia, Europe and the USA. Alexej Gorlatch has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra and the NDR Radiophilharmonie , the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra , the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg , the Dresden Philharmonic , the Munich Radio Orchestra , the Camerata Salzburg , the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and with the leading orchestras in Japan.

Alexej Gorlatch teaches as a professor at the University of Music in Frankfurt am Main. From 2012 to 2016 he taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and in 2016 at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover . He gave master classes in Europe and the USA and was a member of the jury at international competitions.

Alexej Gorlatch has made numerous recordings. His discography includes studio productions on the Sony Classical, OehmsClassics, BR-Klassik, Genuin and RAM labels as well as the publication of concert recordings, for example in 2012 in the Edition Klavier-Festival Ruhr and in 2011 on the BR-Klassik label.
