Alexius Kleinertz

Alexius Kleinertz (born September 16, 1831 in Cologne ; † January 9, 1903 there ) was a German history painter .

Life

Kleinertz especially decorated many of the Cologne churches. The painting of the church Groß St. Martin from 1868 was one of his most important works, but was destroyed in the Second World War. His work also included the designs for the mosaic decorations in the choir of St. Apostles , the paintings on the high altar of the chapel for the Immaculate Conception in the Puricelli monastery in Rheinböllen, and the ornamental paintings in the imperial hall of the town hall in Aachen .
