Life
Waltraut Schulz took accordion lessons as a child and appeared in public for the first time in front of a large audience in 1946 together with some schoolmates in her hometown of Suhl. Shortly thereafter, she founded a small ensemble with her future husband and two other musicians, Das musical Kleeblatt . American hits that the musicians brought back from captivity were also played.
In the early 1950s Waltraut Schulz became a member of the Suhler Volksmusik , later the Herbert Roth instrumental group . She belonged to this well-known ensemble from 1951 to 1983 and contributed significantly to its success with her distinctive voice. From 1983 she was on tour with the Musikalische Rennsteigwanderern , for whom she also wrote texts and compositions. Waltraut Schulz had been retired in 1992, but appeared again in public in April 2003 on the occasion of the anniversary event 20 years of musical Rennsteigwanderer in the house of the Suhler Philharmonie.
