Design and history

The Latin cast iron cross was erected by Luise von Anhalt-Bernburg and her husband Friedrich von Prussia in 1837 for Luise's father, Duke Alexius Friedrich Christian von Anhalt-Bernburg, who died in 1834. At the foot of the cross there is the inscription Friedrich and Luise in memory of his father Alexius . Due to damage in the Second World War , the cross fell into the Selke Valley in 1945. The cross was rediscovered in connection with the Selke flood in 1994. After restoration work, it was put up again in 1995.
