Alfons Schröcker

Alfons Schröcker (born September 4, 1941 in Tamsweg ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and secretary of the Chamber of Labor. From 1991 to 2001 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1984 to 1991 mayor of St. Margarethen im Lungau .

education and profession

Schröcker attended elementary school between 1947 and 1955 and then graduated from the agricultural vocational school in St. Margarethen im Lungau from 1955. In 1957 he was able to complete the vocational school, where he was already employed from 1956 as a worker in torrent and avalanche control. Schröcker worked in this area until 1961 and did his military service in 1961. He then worked for various construction companies between 1963 and 1970 and graduated from the Vienna Chamber of Labor's social academy in Mödling from 1970 to 1971. Thereupon he was employed in 1971 as secretary of the union of building and wood workers in Salzburg. Schröcker was active in his new profession until 1974, before he became District Secretary of Tamsweg in 1974, he became head of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor in Tamsweg, where he held this position until 2002.

Politics and functions

Schröcker became a member of the Socialist Party of Austria in 1963 and in 1968 took over the internal party function of the SPÖ local chairman of St. Margarethen im Lungau, which he held until 2007. He was also district chairman of the SPÖ Lungau between 1991 and 2002. In terms of local politics, he was involved in the community policy of St. Margarethen im Lungau, where he was first sworn in as a member of the community council in 1974. In 1979 he took over the office of Vice Mayor of St. Margarethen im Lungau and was elected Mayor of St. Margarethen in 1984. As a result, he directed the fortunes of the community until 1991 as mayor and gave up his work in local politics in 1991 when he moved to the state parliament. He was a member of the Salzburg state parliament from October 22, 1991 to September 25, 2001 and was again a member of the municipal council from 2004 to 2007. He was also a member of the Chamber of Labor in Salzburg from 1974 to 1987.
