Alfred Abegg (politician, 1914)

Alfred Abegg (born November 18, 1914 in Arbon , TG; † August 13, 1998 in Kreuzlingen ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

biography

Abegg was born in Arbon as the son of a metalworker. He attended the Kreuzlingen teacher training college from 1930 to 1934 . He was then a teacher in Salen-Reutenen from 1935 to 1946 and in Kreuzlingen from 1946 to 1958. He was a member of the SP and worked from 1949 to 1955 as a councilor, then until 1958 as a city councilor and finally until 1972 as mayor (today mayor) of Kreuzlingen.

Abegg was Thurgau Cantonal Councilor from 1951 to 1972 , President from 1961 to 1962 and Government Councilor of the Canton of Thurgau for health and education between 1972 and 1980 . He made great contributions to the reorganization of the Thurgau hospital system. Under him, the Health Act in 1985, the Education Act in 1978 and the Scholarship Act in 1976 were passed. From 1963 to 1971 he was a member of the National Council .
