Alfred Amsler

Alfred Jakob Amsler (born July 3, 1857 in Schaffhausen ; †  April 2, 1940 there ) was a Swiss engineer and works manager of the Alfred J. Amsler machine factory .

biography

His father was Jakob Amsler-Laffon . After finishing school in Schaffhausen, Amsler studied mathematics and physics at the Universities of Basel and Berlin and at the Technical University of Dresden . In 1880 he received his doctorate in Basel. He joined his father's company in 1885, where he developed hydraulic material testing machines, control devices and measuring devices for static and dynamic loads. 1914 equipped Amsler a dynamometer car of the SBB with instruments from the 1930 with facilities for track recording was completed. In 1919 Alfred Amsler received an honorary doctorate from the ETH Zurich .
