Alfred Chilton Pearson

Alfred Chilton Pearson (born October 8, 1861 in London ; died January 2, 1935 in Cambridge ) was a British classical philologist .

Life

Pearson dealt with the Greek drama, especially with the tragedian Sophocles . From 1919 to 1921 he was Gladstone Professor of Greek at the University of Liverpool , from 1921 to 1928 Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Cambridge . In 1924 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the British Academy .
