Alfred Dufour

Alfred Dufour (born December 3, 1938 in Zurich ) is a Swiss legal scholar .

Life

Alfred Dufour studied law (until 1961) and human sciences (until 1962) at the universities of Geneva , Heidelberg and Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1971 he received his doctorate in law in Geneva.

From 1963 he held various positions at the law faculty of Geneva University: until 1964 and from 1966 to 1969 he held an assistant position. From 1971 he received a research assignment and additional teaching assignments until 1974.

From 1974 he worked as an associate professor and from 1980 to 2000 as a full professor in Geneva. In addition, from 1977 to 1982 he was a full professor of legal history , canon law and public law at the University of Freiburg. From 1986 to 1989 he was dean of the law faculty at the University of Geneva.

Dufour has published on the history of jurisprudence and legal philosophy , political organizations, canonical and public law, state theories and the history of the city of Geneva.
