Alfred Durand-Claye

Alfred Durand-Claye (born July 10, 1841 , † April 30, 1888 in Paris ) was a French engineer.

Durand-Claye was instrumental in the rehabilitation of the Seine in the second half of the 19th century. Under his leadership, Paris began to direct the wastewater to so-called sewage fields . His first Rieselfeld plant was put into operation in Gennevilliers in 1869 .

A street in the 14th arrondissement of Paris was named after Durand-Claye . There is also a monument in his honor in Gennevilliers.
