Alfred Goubran
Alfred Goubran (born January 6, 1964 in Graz ) is an Austrian author , musician , reviewer , publisher and translator .
life and work
Alfred Goubran, the Egyptian father and Austrian mother, spent the first years of his life in Graz and Iserlohn. After the death of his father, he moved to Carinthia . First publications in literary magazines, performances and readings from 1981. In 1993 he founded the publishing house edition selene in Klagenfurt . 1998 Relocation to Vienna , which also becomes the new location of the publishing house. While he was a publisher, Goubran published - with one exception: Der Pöbelkaiser. Ein Brief (2002) - no works of his own and only works as editor and translator. In 2010 the publisher ceases business. In the same year Goubran's debut novel "Aus."
Alfred Goubran is a corresponding member of the Academia de Jubarte, Imbassai, Brazil and a member of the Moscow Poetry Club. In summer 2011 he was Max Kade Writer-in-Residence at the Deutsches Haus at New York University, in 2012 for four months and in 2014 for three months at the Cité des Arts in Paris. In 2016 his third novel “The Last Journal” and the volume of poetry “Gebete & Sitzbilder” will be published. In May 2017 the prose text "Heart. A Constitution" was published.
Since 2010 he has been running the music project [goubran]. The first CD “Die Glut” was released in 2014 by Lindo Records Vienna, the second CD “irrlicht” in 2016 by the Konkord label, Vienna. With the release of the LP (compilation) "Ships from Snow" (Label: Konkord, Vienna) in November 2016, the [goubran] project will come to a preliminary conclusion. 2018 first release of the music project NABIL with the CD "Relocated", which exclusively contains cover versions by Bob Dylan, Jaques Brel, Jimmy Davies and others. a. m. includes. Live performances solo and as NABIL & friends (with Hannes Wirth and Stephan Stanzel).
