The Almighty Johnsons is a New Zealand Fantasy - dramedy - television series , were sent from the three seasons from 2011 on. The series is about Axl Johnson, who learns on his 21st birthday that he is a member of a family of reborn Norse gods.

The series follows the student Axl Johnson, who finds out on his 21st birthday that he and his family members are reincarnations of Nordic gods . The only problem is that they cannot control and use their superpowers properly. So it is up to Axl (reincarnation of Odin ) to restore the forces and thus guarantee the survival of the family by finding the reincarnation of Odin's wife Frigg . The search is made difficult by opposing gods who try to find Frigg before the Johnsons, preventing them from regaining control of their powers.

In addition, the Johnsons and their rivals are not the only Norse deities living in exile in New Zealand .

Production and broadcast

The series was conceived by screenwriters James Griffin and Rachel Lang. It has been produced by South Pacific Pictures for TV3 in New Zealand since 2010 . In New Zealand, the series started on February 7, 2011 on TV3. After ten episodes broadcast, the first season ended on April 11, 2011. A second season was decided in June 2011 and produced from October 2011 to February 2012. The second season was broadcast between February 29 and May 23, 2012 on TV3. After initial reports about a dismissal in early September 2012, a third season was finally extended with the help of a grant from the state-sponsored New Zealand media subsidy NZ on Air. The third season aired on July 4, 2013.

Internationally, the series was broadcast in Australia on Network Ten and in Great Britain on the Syfy branch there.
