Virginia Claire "Gin" Wigmore (born June 6, 1986 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand singer and songwriter .

Life

Gin Wigmore lost her father as a teenager and with the song she wrote for his funeral, she won the 2004 International Songwriting Competition in the USA at the age of 17 . Even so, it took her some time to settle into the music business and produce her first own EP. The Extended Play EP reached the top 10 of the New Zealand charts in mid-2008 and achieved gold status . After this initial success, she contributed the female vocals to the title Brother of the hip-hop group Smashproof , which became one of the most successful songs from New Zealand production.

She then produced her debut album Holy Smoke , in which the well-known US producer Mike Elizondo was involved. In the summer, Oh My was released , an older number that had been re-edited for the album, which again achieved gold with over 7,500 units sold. Her album jumped straight to number 1 in the charts in October 2009 .
