Alison Bruce

Alison Bruce (* 1962 in Tanzania ) is a New Zealand actress .

Life

Bruce was born in Tanzania to a Scottish father and an English mother. Her family moved to New Zealand when Alison was eight years old. In the early 1980s she completed an actor training in Auckland and began her career as a stage actress. On the theater stage she has appeared in Hamlet as Ophelia and in Cyrano de Bergerac as Roxanne.

In 1984 Bruce made her screen debut with the television production The Minders . Since then, she has played more than 30 different roles on television. She played the stressed mother of the main character in the New Zealand series Being Eve and one of the nurses in the doctor series Mercy Peak . For the latter role, Bruce won two New Zealand television awards for Best Supporting Actress .

Bruce also appeared in the fantasy series Hercules and Xena - Die Kriegerprinzessin in a number of different roles, including that of the Amazon queen Melosa. Bruce's films include the adventure film Mit Herz und Hand , in which she starred as a doctor, and the short film Mon Desir , which premiered at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival .
