Alfred Heineken
Alfred Henry (Freddy) Heineken , called Freddy Heineken (born November 4, 1923 in Amsterdam , † January 3, 2002 in Noordwijk ), was a Dutch entrepreneur and brewer .
Life
Heineken, who was brought up in strict Calvinism, was the scion of the Dutch brewery family of the same name. After graduating from high school at Kennemer Lyceum, he began his career in 1942 in the Heineken company run by his great-grandfather Gerard Adriaan Heineken and his father Henry Heineken.
He then held various positions there. Heineken devoted itself intensively to advertising . He was involved in the creation of the Group's brand identity, which is still current today, with a red star and green base color. From 1971 to 1989 he was CEO at Heineken. Under his leadership, the company became one of the world's leading beer suppliers. After his time on the board, he was chairman of the supervisory board until 1995 . Heineken was married to Lucille Cummins and had a daughter, Charlene Heineken , with her .
kidnapping
On November 9, 1983, Heineken was kidnapped by Cor van Hout . After three weeks, the police were able to free him and his chauffeur , who was also imprisoned . However, Heineken's kidnappers were able to extort a ransom of almost 35 million guilders . After the kidnappers were arrested, only half of the extorted money could be found, the rest could not be found. Because of this kidnapping, the previously sociable Heineken avoided the public.
