Alfred Jodocus Kwak

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alfred Jodocus Kwak is the title of a music fable by the Dutch song composer Herman van Veen and the name of its main character, a little yellow duck .

history

Van Veen came up with the character for his children after running over a duck and seeing a duck with seven chicks in his garden the following day. He named it after his friend and patron Alfred Biolek , the middle name "Jodocus" he borrowed from a clown. In 1976 van Veen presented the character in a musical for children. From 1987 to 1990 three comics by Harald Siepermann and Hans Bacher followed.

After that, the duck became increasingly popular in the Netherlands. From 1989 to 1991, 52 episodes of the cartoon series Alfred J. Kwak appeared , through which the little duck became internationally known. The main draftsman of the duck was Harald Siepermann , who also worked for the Disney studios and was largely responsible for the design of the series and the visual implementation of the stories. The dubbing actress for Alfred Jodocus Kwak in the television series is the Dutchwoman Ryan van den Akker .

Since 2003, Alfred has been the official UNICEF ambassador for the rights of the child as enshrined by the UN .
