Alf J. Balcke , also Alfred J. Balcke or Alfred Balcke , (* May 1, 1857 in Berlin as Hermann Julius Alfred Balcke ; † July 20, 1909 there ) was a German architect , craftsman and painter who designed the mourning decoration for Adolph in 1905 von Menzel carried out.

Life

Balcke was the son of the businessman Ludwig Friedrich Balcke. After finishing school, Balcke was trained at the renowned Berlin architecture firm Ende and Böckmann ( Hermann Ende and Wilhelm Böckmann ) as well as at the Berlin Bauakademie .

A stay in the United States was followed by a temporary collaboration in the Berlin architecture firm Schulz & Schlichting .

At the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1909 he was one of six representatives of the Berlin Artists Association .
