Schulz & Schlichting
The architectural office Schulz & Schlichting (also Schulz and Schlichting ) was founded in Berlin in 1884 . It designed and built all over Germany, particularly with successful participation in architecture competitions.
One of the two eponymous partners was the architect Alfred Schulz (born August 31, 1854 in Berlin; † December 24, 1902 there). He studied at the Berlin Bauakademie and then worked in the renowned Berlin architecture office of Martin Gropius and Heino Schmieden , where he worked on the designs for the Berlin Museum of Applied Arts, which was completed in 1881 .
In 1884, together with the architect Gustav Schlichting (* around 1854; † 1891), he founded the Schulz und Schlichting office, a studio for architecture and construction . This office name was retained even after Schlichting's death.
A long-time employee of the office was the architect Alf J. Balcke , who worked there from about 1887 until Schulz's death in 1902 and apparently had an “outstanding artistic contribution” to the success of the office.
