Alfred Lücker

Alfred Lücker (born March 29, 1931 , † December 22, 2008 ) was a German hockey player who twice took part in the Olympic Games and won a bronze medal.

Lücker played for ETuF Essen . In 1952 he made his debut in the German national hockey team . At the Olympic Games in 1952 , the team was eliminated in the quarter-finals against the later Olympic champions from the Netherlands, with Lücker not being used as the second goalkeeper in this game. Four years later, the German team reached the semi-finals with Lücker as a regular goalkeeper at the Olympic Games in Melbourne , where the team was defeated by the Indian team; In the bronze medal game, the Germans won 3-1 against the British. In total, Lücker played in 27 international matches from 1952 to 1960.

For winning the bronze medal in Melbourne, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on January 21, 1957, together with the German Olympic hockey team.

Lücker remained active after the end of his career and played for the old men in Essen. He later served as chairman of the hockey team within his home club for five years. Lücker campaigned in his club to ensure that not only mass sports but also competitive sports were promoted.
