Alfred Laine

Alfred "Pantsy" Laine (born July 12, 1895 in New Orleans ; † March 1, 1957 ibid) was an American cornet player , alto horn player and band leader of early jazz .

Alfred Laine (also known as "Pantsy") played with the Reliance Brass Band founded by his father, Papa Jack Laine , and led his own bands, such as Pantsy Laine and his Wampus Cats . In 1920 he recorded in New York with Jimmy Durante's Jazz Band for Gennett Records ( Why Cry Blues ). Another recording ( Slow and Easy ) could have been made with the Louisiana Five in 1919.
