Alfred Vine

Alfred Rebe (born December 25, 1893 in Berlin ; † October 9, 1938 ) was a district councilor of the KPD in Berlin, participant in the naval uprising of 1917 and co-organizer of the resistance in Köpenick against the Kapp Putsch . He was killed in the Soviet Union on false charges in 1938 .

Life

Alfred Rebe organized together with Alexander Futran ( USPD ) in 1920 in Berlin-Köpenick the resistance against the Kapp Putsch instigated by the Freikorps . On March 16, 1920, representatives of the workers' parties USPD and KPD founded the "Socialist Defense Committee", the chairman of which was city councilor Alexander Futran (USPD), and city councilor Alfred Rebe (KPD) became the military leader. Rebe was also the leader of the local combat group for the Kietzer- and Kölln suburbs .

As a well-known Köpenick communist , editor of the " Rote Fahne " and district councilor of the KPD until 1931, he was hunted and arrested by the Nazis after the Reichstag fire . In 1933/34 he was imprisoned in the Oranienburg and Sonnenburg concentration camps. After his release in 1934, he emigrated to the Soviet Union . From here he joined the International Brigades in Spain in 1936 and fought with weapon in hand against fascism . Wounded or ill, he returned to the Soviet Union. Here he fell victim to the Stalinist reprisals.
