Alfred Reebstein

Alfred Reebstein (born December 11, 1882 in Pforzheim ; † April 1, 1974 in Ulm ) was a German civil engineer and anthroposophist .

life and work

Alfred Reebstein, son of an overseas merchant, was the oldest of four brothers. He grew up in Brötzingen and attended secondary school in Pforzheim. He then studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and in Berlin until 1908. Then he entered the Baden state service. In 1912 he became a government architect and after 1912 was a lecturer at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. Later he took over the department for bridge construction at the State School for Bridge Construction.

About Wilhelm Selling he attended a branch lecture given by Rudolf Steiner in 1906 and in the same year became a member of the German section of the Theosophical Society . Reebstein organized lectures in Pforzheim, among others with Rudolf Steiner and Michael Bauer , and founded a branch in 1908. In 1919 he campaigned for social threefolding , was a local group leader in Karlsruhe and worked as a speaker. Until the outbreak of the Second World War he was active in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area. In the 1930s he headed the office of the Anthroposophical Society in Germany. In 1935 an anthroposophical library was confiscated. In 1946 he re-established the Karlsruhe branch. In 1964 he moved with his family to Ulm, where they got involved in the local branch and in the local school.
