Alfred Riedel

Alfred Riedel (born March 23, 1906 in Waldkirch ; † March 9, 1969 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German book illustrator , lithographer and type graphic artist .

Life

After his apprenticeship as a lithographer, he studied at the Badische Landeskunstschule in Karlsruhe and was a master student of Rudolf Koch . From 1935 he worked as a book designer for the Herder publishing house .

After the Second World War , together with the Freiburg writer and pacifist Reinhold Schneider, he wrote the inscriptions on the memorial for November 27, 1944 in Freiburg.

Services

Alfred Riedel had registered designs on three of the font designs he had designed: Adamas , Adamas Unizale (manufactured by Monotype for photo typesetting ), both for Herder Verlag, and Domino , for Ludwig & Mayer.
