Alfred Schöls

Alfred Schöls (born June 15, 1951 in Horn ) is an Austrian civil servant and politician ( ÖVP ). Schöls was a member of the Austrian National Council and the Federal Council .

education and profession

After primary and secondary school, Schöls completed a commercial vocational school and did military service. Between 1970 and 1978 he was a contract employee of the Lower Austrian provincial government and has been an official of the Lower Austrian provincial government since 1978. In 1993 he became senior inspector.

politics

Schöls has been chairman of the Lower Austria Public Service Union since 1989 and chairman of the Lower Austria Christian Union since 1991 . In 1994 he was also elected deputy chairman of the ÖGB Lower Austria.

Between June 3, 1997 and December 11, 2002, Schöls represented the ÖVP and the state of Lower Austria in the Federal Council. In the second half of 2001 he was President of the Federal Council. On December 20, 2002, he moved to the National Council, but left the National Council again after the 2006 National Council election . He was re-elected to the Federal Council on February 22, 2007, to which he was a member until April 9, 2008. After the state elections in Lower Austria in 2008, he resigned from this position.
