Gerd Klamt

Gerd Klamt (born November 2, 1942 in Villach , Carinthia ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria .

biography

After attending compulsory schools, he graduated from the technical college for mechanical engineering in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee between 1957 and 1960 and then the secondary school in Vienna , which he graduated with the Matura in 1964 . After completing his military service , he worked as a consultant in the claims department of an insurance company from 1965 to 1971, before becoming operations manager in a trucking company .

After passing the examination to become an engineer in mechanical engineering and automotive engineering at the Technological Trade Museum (TGM) , he joined Siemens Bauelemente OHG , today's Infineon Technologies AG in Villach , in 1983 . There he was not only an employee in the production planning and human resources departments, but also a member of the works council . In 1989 he also completed an apprenticeship in industrial engineering .

In addition, he began a political career in the FPÖ in 1991, was environmental officer for Villach from 1991 to 1997 and has been a member of Villach's municipal council and chairman of the tourism committee since then .

On October 30, 2000, he became a member of the Federal Council for the FPÖ as a representative of the Province of Carinthia and was also its President between January 1 and June 30, 2001 . As such, he was the first Federal Council President from the ranks of the FPÖ since 1945. During this time, he was last chairman of the Rules Committee from November 24, 2003 until he left the Federal Council on March 30, 2004.
