Alfred Tack

Alfred Tack (born February 23, 1898 in Schöningen , † September 3, 1970 in Helmstedt ) was a German politician (SPD). From 1947 to 1970 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

Tack was a model maker by profession. In 1912 he joined the SPD and the union. A year later he was elected to the works council. In 1927 he became a city councilor in Schöningen. Because of his political views, he was arrested in 1933. After the end of the Second World War, he became a member of the works council of the Braunschweig coal mines in 1945. He was also mayor of the city of Schöningen since 1945 . In 1946 he became a member of the appointed Braunschweig Landtag. He was also elected to the first electoral term of the Lower Saxony state parliament in 1947, to which he belonged until the end of the sixth electoral period in 1970. Tack passed away six months later. He was the holder of the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (1966) and the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .
