The Diocese of Valledupar ( lat. : Dioecesis Valleduparensis , span. : Diócesis de Valledupar ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Valledupar .

history

The diocese Valledupar was on December 4, 1952 by Pope Pius XII. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Guajira as the Apostolic Vicariate Valledupar . On April 25, 1969, the Apostolic Vicariate Valledupar was by Pope Paul VI. raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Barranquilla as a suffragan . The diocese of Valledupar gave on January 17, 2006 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of El Banco .
