The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Barranquilla ( lat. : Archidioecesis Barranquillensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Barranquilla ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Barranquilla . It includes the Colombian Department of Atlántico .
history
Pope Pius XI founded it on July 7, 1932 with the bull Maxime quidem from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Cartagena , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
With the Apostolic Constitution Recta rerum it was raised on April 25, 1969 to the rank of Metropolitan Archbishopric .
