The archdiocese of Cali ( lat. : Archidioecesis Caliensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Cali ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Cali .
history
The Archdiocese of Cali was established on June 7, 1910 by Pope Pius X from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Popayán as the Diocese of Cali . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Popayán as a suffragan . On May 1, 1927, the Diocese of Cali gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco . Further assignments of territory took place on November 14, 1952 to found the Apostolic Vicariate of Buenaventura , on December 17, 1952 to found the Diocese of Palmira and on March 16, 1962 to found the Diocese of Cartago .
On June 20, 1964, the diocese of Cali was by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Quamquam Christi raised to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Cali gave up on June 29, 1966 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Buga .
