The Roman Catholic Diocese of Buenaventura ( lat. : Dioecesis Bonaventurensis , span. : Diócesis de Buenaventura ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Buenaventura .
history
The diocese of Buenaventura was on November 14, 1952 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Papal Bull Provvida Mater Ecclesia from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Cali and the Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco as the Apostolic Vicariate of Buenaventura . On November 30, 1996, the Vicariate Apostolic Buenaventura was raised to a diocese by Pope John Paul II and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cali as a suffragan .
