Heriberto Correa Yepes

Heriberto Correa Yepes MXY (born August 6, 1916 in Cedeño, † September 9, 2010 in Medellín , Colombia ) was the Vicar Apostolic of Buenaventura .

Life

Heriberto Correa Yepes joined the religious order of the Misioneros Javerianos de Yarumal in 1928 and was ordained a priest on November 12, 1939 . Correa Yepes worked for the diocesan curia of the Archdiocese of Barranquilla and was a professor at the Seminario Conciliar San Luis Beltran (Barranquilla) , later its prefect. Pope Pius XII appointed him on March 27, 1953 as Apostolic Prefect of Mitú . Correa Yepes was the councilor of the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . In 1966 he was elected Superior General of the Misioneros Javerianos de Yarumal.

Paul VI appointed him on January 29, 1973 Vicar Apostolic of Buenaventura and Titular Bishop of Casae Nigrae . The Archbishop of Bogotá , Aníbal Cardinal Muñoz Duque , donated him episcopal ordination on March 27 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Jesús Emilio Jaramillo Monsalve MXY, Vicar Apostolic of Arauca , and Gustavo Posada Peláez MXY, Vicar Apostolic of Istmina .

On November 30, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He died of a fall in his residence in the Emmaus house in Medellin.
