The Roman Catholic Diocese of Tumaco ( lat. : Dioecesis Tumacoënsis , span. : Diócesis de Tumaco ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Tumaco .
history
The Diocese of Tumaco was on May 1, 1927 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Qui peculiari from cessions of territory of the dioceses of Cali and Pasto as the Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco . On November 14, 1952, the Apostolic Prefecture Tumaco gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Buenaventura . Another cession took place on April 5, 1954 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Guapi .
On February 7, 1961, the Apostolic Prefecture Tumaco was by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Regnum Christi raised to the Apostolic Vicariate . The Apostolic Vicariate Tumaco was raised to a diocese on October 29, 1999 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Carmelitarum Excalceatorum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Popayán as a suffragan .
