The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pasto ( lat. : Dioecesis Pastopolitana , span. : Diócesis de Pasto ) is an in Colombia located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church , headquartered in San Juan de Pasto , the capital of the province of Nariño in southwestern Colombia.
history
The diocese of Buga was on April 10, 1859 by Pope Pius IX. built out of the then diocese of Popayán . In 1927, the then Tumaco prefecture was founded from territorial cessions by the diocese of Pasto and the then diocese of Cali . In 1964 the diocese of Ipiales was founded from a renewed assignment of territory .
It is a suffragan of the Popayán Archdiocese.
