The Södertälje Fotbollsarena is a football stadium in the Geneta district of the Swedish city of Södertälje . The facility is the venue for the home games of the local football clubs Assyriska Föreningen and Syrianska FC .
history
The Södertälje Fotbollsarena was commissioned after Assyriska Föreningen was promoted to Allsvenskan at the end of 2005 to replace the previously used Bårsta IP stadium . In November 2005 the arena, which had been built for 12 million euros , was opened. As part of the 2005/06 Royal League playout , the Stockholm clubs Hammarby IF and Djurgårdens IF partially used the stadium for their home games.
Building
The facility, which is owned by the municipality of Södertälje , initially had a natural grass pitch, which was replaced by artificial turf in 2008 and under which turf heating is installed. The stadium seats 6,400, including 3,460 seats and 2,940 standing. However, the capacity can be supplemented with additional grandstands. The attendance record is 8,453 fans at the local derby between Assyriska Föreningen and Syrianska FC during the second division season 2009 in May of that year.
