The Domnarvsvallen is a football stadium in the Swedish city of Borlänge . The stadium is used by the local soccer clubs IK Brage and Dalkurd FF to host their home games.

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, football developed into one of the most important sports in Borlänge. Finding an optimal venue quickly became one of the biggest problems for the individual football teams. Therefore, the construction of a new stadium began in 1923. Students from the industrial school and unemployed people from Södra Sveriges Statsbanor were used as workers to build Domnarvsvallen .

At the same time as the stadium was being built, two of the strongest local teams, Domnarvets GoIF and IK Blixt , joined forces in 1923. However, this association did not last long and some of the players were involved in the founding of the IK Brage on April 7, 1925 . From then on, the club played its home games in the stadium, which was newly opened in the year it was founded, and since it has developed into a footballing figurehead of the city, the stadium has seen several seasons of first and second division football . After the emigrant club Dalkurd FF had played in the higher-class football, he also moved to the stadium for his home games.

Stadion

Domnarvsvallen currently has almost 6,500 spectators. Three of the four grandstands consist of seats, only the west grandstand holds 1,020 spectators exclusively standing. The audience record of 14,200 followers was reached in 1965 in a comparison with GAIS . In addition to the actual stadium, there are two other, smaller grass pitches.
