The Myresjöhus Arena is a football stadium in the Swedish city of Växjö . The stadium is the new home ground of the Östers IF club and was opened on September 1, 2012.
history
Construction work on the stadium began with the laying of the foundation stone by the President of the Swedish Football Association, Lars-Åke Lagrell on March 31, 2011. Two days earlier, the Swedish construction company Myresjöhus secured the naming rights for an undisclosed sum. The new stadium was built on the site of the Värendsvallen sports complex . In addition to the stadium, an ice hockey , floorball and athletics hall has also been built.
The stadium offers 12,000 spectators for football matches. Of these places, 10,000 are seated and 2,000 are standing. There are also 20 spaces for wheelchair users . All grandstands are covered. Upon completion, the men's and women's teams of the Östers IF club have left the old Värendsvallen stadium and moved to the Myresjöhus Arena.
The Myresjöhus Arena was one of the seven venues for the 2013 European Women's Football Championship . In addition to three preliminary round matches, a quarter-finals were held in Växjö.
