history

The diocese of El Banco was founded on January 17, 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Munus Nostrum from cessions of territory from the dioceses of Santa Marta and Valledupar and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Barranquilla as a suffragan . First Bishop was Jaime Enrique Duque Correa MXY .
