Jaime Enrique Duque Correa

Jaime Enrique Duque Correa MXY (born April 4, 1943 in Medellín , † April 14, 2013 ibid) was Bishop of El Banco .

Life

Jaime Enrique Duque Correa attended primary school at the Pontifical University of Bolivariana and high school at the Minor Seminary of the Misioneros Javerianos de Yarumal . At the Major Seminary of Yarumal he studied philosophy and theology and joined the religious community of the Misioneros Javerianos de Yarumal, made his profession on November 5, 1966 and was ordained a priest on July 2, 1967 . From 1968 to 1973 he was director of the Pastoral Institute in Medellín and from 1968 to 1969 missionary and school principal in Providencia. In 1971/72 he taught at the Colegio Ferrini in Medellín. In 1973 he became master of novices in Yarumal and Buenaventura; from 1975 to 1980 he worked as a missionary in the Bolivian diocese of Potosí . After pastoral work in Cotagaita and Talina, he was rector of the Minor Seminary of his order in Yarumal from 1982 to 1984. From 1984 to 1990 he was assistant to the superior general of the Misioneros Javerianos de Yarumal and its general secretary. From 1991 to 1995 he worked as a missionary in the Machala diocese in Ecuador and from 1994 to 1995 he was the coordinator of his order for missionary activities in Ecuador. In 2000 he took over the parish in Emaús in Medellín.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of El Banco on January 17, 2006 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , Archbishop Beniamino Stella , donated him episcopal ordination on February 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alberto Giraldo Jaramillo PSS , Archbishop of Medellín , and Antonio Bayter Abud MXY, Vicar Apostolic of Inírida .
