Alfred Thiele (resistance fighter)

Alfred Thiele (born January 13, 1904 , † March 2, 1934 in Dresden ) was a Dresden worker functionary and anti-fascist resistance fighter .

Alfred Thiele learned the profession of upholsterer. In 1926 he joined the KPD and belonged to the “ Naußlitz ” cell . After the seizure of power , the Gestapo arrested Alfred Thiele for the first time in March 1933. After his release, he immediately contacted his KPD comrades again. In 1934, a large part of the illegal KPD group Naußlitz was arrested again. Alfred Thiele was brought to the police headquarters and brutally mistreated there. His relatives hardly recognized him when he was admitted to the Löbtau hospital in February 1934 . He died on March 2nd as a result of the abuse and was buried on March 10th in the Löbtau cemetery . On April 30, 1959, his urn was transferred to the honor grove of the Heidefriedhof .

Commemoration

Since 1946 the former street Jochhöhstraße in Dresden-Naußlitz has been called Alfred-Thiele-Straße . The 38th  Polytechnic High School in Dresden- Gorbitz carried the honorary name "Alfred Thiele" from 1971 to 1991. After the reunification , this school was renamed “38. Middle School ". In 2009 it was closed.
