Alfredo Triff (born December 28, 1954 ) is an American violinist and composer of Cuban origin who also appears in the jazz field .

Live and act

At the age of seven, Triff studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Havana under the direction of Radosvet Bojadieff.

In the 1970s, Triff took up contemporary styles of music from Europe and the USA and created music that combined these avant-garde traditions with elements of Son montuno . He founded the Ensemble Arte Vivo , a group of four instrumental composers from the contemporary music scene in Havana.

Due to the socio-political situation on the island, Triff moved to the USA in 1980, where he initially settled in New York City and worked as a musician in the salsa scene. He was one of the bands of Eddie Palmieri and Kip Hanrahan , with whom he recorded several albums and also performed in Europe. He also worked with Arnaldo Antunes . He can also be heard on albums by Jack Bruce , Emmanuel , Alfredo Rodriguez and Silvana Deluigi . In 2001 he released his debut album, which was followed by other albums. He also composed the music for several short and documentary films and for Leon Ichaso's thriller Paraiso .
