Alfredo Valdés (singer, 1910)
Alfredo Valdés ( Alfredo Valdés, Sr .; born March 23, 1910 in Havana , † 1988 in New York City ) was a Cuban singer and band leader.
The brother of the percussionist Oscar Valdés (1912-2003) and the singer and bandleader Vicentico Valdés (1919-1996) appeared as a singer with the Septeto Nacional and the Orquesta Casino de la Playa as well as with Tito Puente . In the 1950s and 1960s he was also active as a band leader. In this capacity he recorded the album Viva Valdés in 1963 . Valdés was married to the singer Ana María Purmuy . His son Alfredito Valdés ( Alfredo Valdés, Jr. ) also became known as a singer.
