Algirdas Šakalys

Algirdas Šakalys (born December 1, 1942 in the village of Šakiai, Rajongemeinde Molėtai ) is a Lithuanian transport scientist and politician , vice minister .

Life

After graduating from the Suginčiai Middle School near Molėtai in 1960 , he studied mechanics in the Vilnius branch (now VGTU ) at the Kauno politechnikos institutas until 1969 . 1971-1974 he studied in the Economic Aspirantur the Vilniaus universitetas . In 1996 he defended his dissertation on "Systemic Analysis of the Development of Lithuanian Freight Transport". From 1991 to 2000 he was the first deputy of the Lithuanian Transport Minister . From 2001 he taught at the Vilniaus Gedimino technikos universitetas . In the chair of transport management he was a lecturer in transport policy . 2001–2002 was Šakalys advisor to Valdas Adamkus , from 2003 the Foreign Minister of Lithuania and from 2009 the Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius .
