Alhard Karl Gustav Ehrenreich von Burgsdorff (born August 18, 1890 in Berlin , † July 30, 1960 in Düsseldorf-Garath ) was a German industrialist, farmer and poultry farmer.

Life

Alhard von Burgsdorff was born as the son of Albert von Burgsdorff and Lucie. Poensgen born. He received his Abitur in 1909 at the Hohenzollern High School in Düsseldorf. He studied law for three semesters at the University of Heidelberg and in 1909 became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . He then joined the army, first as a flag junior and later a lieutenant in the Westphalian Uhlan Regiment No. 5 in Düsseldorf. As an active officer, he was promoted to Dr. jur. et rer. pole. and was one of the three active officers with a doctorate at the time. During the First World War he was promoted to first lieutenant in 1915 and to captaincy in 1918. After the end of the war he said goodbye to active service. In 1920 he founded the Kontakt-AG Frankfurt am Main-Rödelheim. He was the owner of the Garath poultry farm, the largest breeding farm of its time on the European mainland with 5000 breeding hens and a production of more than 250,000 day-old chicks. Here he first introduced herdbook breeding into German poultry farming.

Von Burgsdorff was chairman of the supervisory board of H. Römmler AG, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Erdöl AG in Berlin and member of the supervisory board of the Graf Bismarck union in Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck, Mannesmannröhren-Werke AG in Düsseldorf, and Elektro-Einheitsmaterial GmbH in Salzburg , the West German Trading and Plantation Society in Düsseldorf, the Kontakt AG in Frankfurt am Main and the Sisal Agave Society in Düsseldorf.

From 1918 to 1929 he was a member of the district council of the Düsseldorf district .

He was also involved as a member of the municipal and industrial committee of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the poultry breeding committee of the Chamber of Agriculture for the Rhine Province in Bonn, president of the German poultry breeders' club, chairman of the Rhenish Land Association of Düsseldorf-Mettmann and Gauführer in the Stahlhelm, union of soldiers at the front .
