Ali S. Haji-Sheikh (* 11. January 1961 in Ann Arbor , Michigan ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the Kickers , Iranian descent. He played for the New York Giants , Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins in the NFL .

Early years

Sheikh attended high school in Arlington , Texas . He later attended the University of Michigan .

NFL

New York Giants

Sheikh was selected in the ninth round of the 1983 NFL draft in 237th place by the New York Giants . In his first season he converted 35 of 42 attempts, which was a record in the NFL at the time, that record lasted until 1996. He stayed with the Giants for three years. In 1983 he was elected to the Pro Bowl .

Atlanta Falcons

He spent the 1986 season with the Atlanta Falcons . He converted nine out of 12 field goal attempts. He was released from the Falcons on August 27, 1987.

Washington Redskins

On September 15, 1987, he signed a contract with the Washington Redskins . With the Redskins he reached the Super Bowl XXII , which was won 42:10 against the Denver Broncos . Here he scored six extra points and missed a field goal.
