Alice Springs Desert Park

The Alice Springs Desert Park is a wildlife park on Larapinta Drive about eight kilometers west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia . It shows the typical desert flora of the West MacDonnell Ranges and the fauna of the interior of Australia.

The zoo, operated by the Northern Territory authorities, opened in 1997. The facility is 1,300 hectares - the main area measures only 54 hectares. The number of visitors in 2003 was given as around 100,000 people per year. The complex is divided into a sandy desert area of Sand County , the scrubland-like woodland and a more water-rich area of Desert Rivers .

Held kangaroos , emus , dingoes and Riesenwarane . There is also an outdoor bird enclosure, a night house where you can observe the rabbit- nosed bucket, among other things , an aquarium and a reptile house with the thorn devil . In addition, birds of prey shows on offer.

There is a café, picnic tables and a souvenir shop in the park .
