Alima Moro (born February 5, 1983 in Bawku ) is a Ghanaian soccer player.

Career

Moro started her career with the Bolga Ghatel Ladies based in Bolgatanga . In 2005 she left her home country to work in the Ghanaian embassy in Rome . She continued her career in Serie C with ASD Lighi in Italy. After only one season at ASD Lighi, she turned her back on the club and went to Serie B for CF Marostica 99. In autumn 2007 she switched to league rivals Vicenza Calcio Femminile. There Moro immediately became a top performer, which earned her a Serie A contract with CF Trevignano in 2012 . In Serie A, after a strong first season, she did not get beyond the reserve role and moved back to Serie C at the beginning of the 2013/2014 season, where she has been under contract with ASD Laghi Calcio since then.

International

Moro is a national player for the Ghanaian national soccer team for women and is currently the only national player in Ghana to play abroad. She suspended two years between 2011 and 2013 after accusing the then coach AK Edusei of bribery . Moro claimed in an interview with a Ghanaian daily newspaper that some of the national team players bought their places. Since December 2013 she has been back in the national team.

Awards

In the 2011/2012 season she was voted the best African female footballer in Italy. On October 23, 2013 she was awarded the Ghana-Italy Excellence Awards in Brescia . She was also named Best Goalkeeper 2012 by the Ghana Football Association .

Futsal

In addition to her football career, she played futsal in Italy for two years for the Fontanafredda- based futsal club Caffé dae Tose.
