Alina Romanowna Kowaljowa ( Russian Алина Романовна Ковалёва ; born February 18, 1993 in Slanzy ) is a Russian curler . She is currently the skip of the Russian national team.

Career

Her first major international success was winning the gold medal at the Mixed Doubles World Championship 2011 , where she played with Alexei Zelousow .

In 2013 she took with the Russian national junior team on the position of third at the junior world championship and won the gold medal. She won the bronze medal at the 2014 Junior World Championship .

In 2016 she took part in the 2016 World Cup as a substitute for the Russian team . The team with Anna Sidorowa (Skip), Margarita Fomina (Third), Alexandra Rajewa (Second) and Nkeiruka Jesech (Lead) won the bronze medal. She played second at the 2017 World Cup and was able to win the silver medal with Sidorowa, Fomina, Jesech and Rajewa after the team lost 3: 8 in the final against Skip Rachel Homan's Canadian team .

At the European Championship 2015 in Esbjerg she was a substitute player and moved into the final with the Russian team. There the team beat Eve Muirhead's Scottish team 6: 4. At the European Championships 2017 she appeared again as a substitute for the Sidorova team; the team finished fifth. The following year she led the Russian team as Skip at the European Championships in Tallinn . She got into the playoffs with her team and lost there in the semifinals against Sweden (Skip: Anna Hasselborg ) and in the game for third place against the German team around Skip Daniela Jentsch .
